Letter of commitment from the Superintendent
Welcome to Santa Rosa City Schools, where we are focused on successfully preparing our students for 21st Century colleges, careers and communities!
We are committed to prepare our students for an ever-changing future. Accelerating technological advances, rapidly cumulating knowledge, increasing global competition and rising workforce requirements make 21st century skills essential for every student’s success.
Santa Rosa City Schools, while continuing to emphasize rigor in content area subjects also supports students in developing the skills needed to adapt to rapidly developing opportunities. Our schools are focusing on the 21st Century learning and innovation skills of critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity and civic engagement. These will embolden and empower our youth leaders of today and prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow.
We value whole and enriched learning opportunities that embrace the whole child: academically, socially and emotionally. As a team, we are continually working to design educational experiences that support both intra and inter personal skills and strengths. We prepare tomorrow’s leaders who value service to others and civic engagement and understand their voice and role in their community.
The District supports transformational technologies in our schools to develop students as just-in-time information producers. These technologies engage and motivate students to become literate in media, information, and ICT (Information, Communications and Technology.) New learning tasks with technology tools expand student roles to that of explorers and self-directed learners.
Furthermore, we are committed to building professional capacity so that all staff becomes technologically fluent facilitators and designers of 21st century learning. We are dedicated to district-wide system transformation to support the highest quality teaching and learning for all staff, students and families. Our work is vital to a whole and healthy Santa Rosa.
Santa Rosa City Schools will ensure that all students graduate high school with the skills they need to be effective citizens, workers and leaders in tomorrow's global economy. Schools across the city have already begun to implement strategies that address these skills and we will continue to seek and employ cutting-edge practices to ensure the absolute best education for our students. This is our 21st century pledge to our community.
